If you are tempted to scan them yourself then a dedicated AF film scanner (something like a Minolta Scan Dual 3 or 4) will give better results than a flatbed for 35mm. While we like Costco for their warehouse bulk foods and thier many other low cost household items, we do not think that they are going to be the service that you will want scanning your slides. The learning curve can be brutal depending on your photographic knowledge. However, more detail can be obtained using Silverfast AI or similar products. I'd just buy a newer Epson flat bed scanner that will do slides and negatives and do it yourself. Time moved on, storage got cheap, I've been scanning 35mm, 127, and at some point old 620 when I get done. At the time I didn't have the storage to scan all the slides I have. I bought a Epson 4870 flat bed scanner years ago.
